In February 2018, the Delhi government invited proposals to partner with the Directorate of Education to develop an activity based-Happiness Curriculum. This curriculum was to be launched in the upcoming (July) academic session in all Delhi government schools for classes Nursery to 8th grade.
The intention behind starting such a curriculum was to focus on the psychological and emotional health of children versus simply focusing on making them products of a competitive academic system.
Out of the 1500 applications that were received, Circle of Life was 1 among 4 organisations that were selected as the core developers for this project.
The curriculum comprises 5 major verticals – Mindfulness, emotional intelligence, self awareness, critical thinking and harmony.
Team Circle of Life led by our senior psychologists – Dr. Soamya Arora and Ms Ishhita Gupta designed and developed the entire Mindfulness Program for the project.
After having designed this curriculum within one and a half months, it was launched by His Holiness, The Dalai Lama on 2nd July at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi.
Our psychologists were also involved in the Mindfulness orientation and training for 18,000 government school officials in July that was held at the Thyagraj stadium itself.
The Happiness curriculum project is a 3-year project (2018-21) and a team from Circle of life would be consistently involved in teacher training, observation and research for the same.
We couldn’t be more thrilled and grateful to the Deputy CM of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia and to Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal at District of Education and Training; for placing trust in us and having us spearhead the Mindfulness program for the project.
